Student Affairs

How It Works

In the Auburn Family, there’s room for everyone at the table!

All students who are enrolled in at least one class on Auburn’s campus participate in the meal plan.  Students who have an on-campus housing assignment participate at a minimum level of $1100 dining dollars/semester and those who reside off campus participate at a $350 dining dollars/semester  level.  The $1100 dining dollars plan is about half the average student’s semester dining budget.  This figure takes into consideration that sometimes students will eat at a local restaurant off campus, travel on weekends, or have meetings during regular meal periods.  The $350 meal plan ensures students have lunch/snack/coffee money to keep their bodies fueled while in class. If any dining dollars remain at the conclusion of the semester, they will be available the concurrent spring semester and will carry over through the end of the ensuing summer term.

Based on student feedback, we now offer multiple dining plan options.  Many of these plans include both dining dollars and block meals, which are discounted entries into our dining halls.  Block meals offer dining hall entry at a discount, but they do expire at the end of each semester so choose wisely!  You may find dining plan details here Meal Plan Options.  Not sure which meal plan is right for you?  Students may request a change to their meal plan during the first ten class days of each semester.  After the tenth class day, students may only purchase Add-on block 25 meal plans or add dining dollars to an optional account via the GET mobile app.

We surveyed students a few years back, and found that more than 80% of our students would walk no more than 3 minutes to get to food; so we work to bring good food choices to them.  We have a number of dining facilities located throughout campus, as well as a fleet of food trucks that rotate weekly, offering students even more variety!

Because we have a lot of students who all need to be fed within a short time frame, we have food that’s available quickly, and most of it is easily customizable to suit a student’s particular tastes.

If you have a discerning palate or special dietary needs, our Tiger Dining Dietitian, Kaiten Zajac, is available to help you successfully navigate your food choices in our 30+ dining locations.  Simply send an email to to set up an appointment.
