October 5, 2019: This Community Day was spent planting some fall and winter root veggies, including beets, radishes, and carrots. We weeded the raised beds, planted them, and harvest one late watermelon that was ready to be eaten (it was so sweet!). We enjoyed our watermelon while Extension Specialist Dani Carroll taught us about best practices for seed saving, heirlooms vs. hybrids, and how to prevent cross pollination or diseases carrying through to seeds.
Join us on Saturday, September 21st from 8 am -12 pm for our monthly Community Volunteer Day! Enjoy free bagels and coffee while you socialize with other gardeners, help us get our donation plots planted with fall crops, and learn which fall crops of your own to plant.
Email garden manager Marley Halter at email@example.com for more information or to learn about other ways to get involved at the garden.
